  Even though there is some true to what you are saying, the facts are the facts. People are leaving organized religion faster than ever. As implied by your statement, there will never be a dramatic decline, but the gradual downward trend is clear and is in stark contrast to the upward trend of just 20 years ago. We are living in a watershed moment in the history of the Watchtower, and of religion in general. We are witnessing history, and the internet is the driving, inexorable force behind it. Your statement is based on past and reliable information, but information that is rapidly becoming obsolete. We just entered uncharted territory and the predictions that applied to old models won't work anymore.

  My experience with religion

  hello, i am sam(samuel).

  i am 18 and i live in romania.

  my english is not that good and i find it hard to express myself even in my language xd.. i'm not an open person and i would've probaly never talked so open of my life but this "event" had so much impact on my life and it damaged me so deeply that i do now write this.. i came to this site to help myself fight the problem that destroyed my life for the past 2 years.

  grew up in east la in a bad neighborhood to a black mother and white father.

  i never knew my father because he died in a car accident when i was a few weeks old.

  my mother converted as a jw soon after when two sisters came to her door and offered her comfort, which was something she needed.

  YOUR story was going so well until right before the end. You represent the reason I hate this evil organization that kills children in hospitals, shuns them and leads them to depression and even suicide, and in the best case, it steals their lives and dreams. You just galvanize my desire to see this organization come to an end. PM if you are interested in meeting with me. I live in Burbank but quite often go to your side of town (Cesar Chavez and 5 Fwy). Nothing to fear from me. Never been religious and dislike religion at this time more than ever...I can thank the Governing Body for these feelings.

  In fairness to my wife, she is a wonderful woman, I love her very much and she makes my life with the cult quite bearable because she has never been a hard core JW. It seems that your girlfriend is not a hardcore JW. So there's hope for you.

  Regarding getting someone "spiritually in" to give a comment, I doubt you will get anyone here. But I can surmise that they will describe a rosy scenario for you... as long as you are in too. And I think that it is possible to be very happy as long as both are mentally and physically in. The problem is that the internet is rapidly drawing people away from cults, so the chances of faithful JW happy couples are shrinking.

  I married a JW 20 years ago. She was unjustly (according to circuit overseer) reproved. So soon after, her privileges were reinstated. Life for newly married may not be as easy now that their Bible has been changed, as another poster mentioned. Back to my life.
  

  1. Biggest regret: I let my children be raised in the cult. They missed in a lot of great things: sports, celebrations, friends, school activities, etc, and I kick myself for that. The worst thing I have ever done in my life, by far, is to let my daughter be imprisoned by the cult through her baptism.
     
  2. Second biggest regret, I have to split my wife with "Jehovah" They spent a lot of time in that religion. It's near impossible to plan full weekends with them. Always meetings and preaching take precedence..
     

  Good things:

  1. She will be a faithful wife, not because you are a great lover, but rather because God demands it... I know, it's not an ego boosting faithfulness.
     
  2. My children were raised in an environment that was quite clean; no drugs, alcohol, cursing, sexual innuendos
     

  Whatever you do, be wise; it's a must at your age. Do as much research as you can. The Jehovah's Witnesses are members of a cult and behave as such. Don't be fooled by appearances. If she remains in, you are screwed. If she gets out, she is screwed, and you too, by association.
  

  Go for it, if you both love each other very much, but you are definitely marrying into a cult that believes that very soon you will be destroyed for belonging to the false religion.

  so according to the wt manual, your main sin may have not been doubting, but faking having doubts.

  the spirit of Galatians...

  I am forced to conclude that many of you didn't get any aid because your doubts were fake. So according to the WT manual, your main sin may have not been doubting, but faking having doubts. So, I guess it's impossible to be an apostate. If you have sincere doubts you get help, but most of you didn't get help. Consequently, your doubts were not sincere, and we can conclude that you are still a believer, not an apostate.
  

  Help me, English is not my first language. Am I missing something?

  wifi is great.

  it's so easy and convenient.

  but it can be slow.. years ago when it first came out you maybe had a pc and a couple of other devices at most.

  Thanks. Few minutes ago I was precisely trying to solve exactly the same problem, and my solution was to run an ethernet cable that would be about 45 to 55 feet long. This, for me, is the most fortuitous thread of the year.

  I liked the debates of few years ago regarding 607 vs 587, and obviously we know who the losers were. Those debates made me take a closer look at subjects that I hardly knew anything about, religion, archaeology, history of antiquity, the Bible. Many great apostates back then who no longer write here. Leolaia being the most remarkable of all. Her erudition was one of a kind, and yet it was accompanied by an unpretentious demeanor. Rarely do you find people like that. She won every single time, even though I doubt that she attempted to debate and win. She just knew and shared.

  i always had a problem with the belief that god is allowing all the suffering in this world to go on just to vindicate his name and prove the devil wrong.

  i watched this movie on netflix and i can really see why the atheist movement is growing.

  it really does a good job of portraying the suffering in some parts of the world.

  The math is not bad. You have zillions of chemical reactions around the universe under very wide range of conditions going on for billions of years. It's like playing the lottery. If you do it one time, the odds of winning are very, very tiny. But if you play lotto for billions of years, you are bound to get the prize many times. Abiogenesis is the same thing. I am quite confident that scientists will be playing God some time in the future, and create life out of organic substances.
